    Oktober 2017

I was 1 year of age when I was diagnosed with congenital cataract and underwent a cataract extraction. Unfortunately, living in the Gulf back in the 90s, there were not many qualified doctors and it was a time when doctors were held to the level of Gods due to their titles and not their knowledge. I was only 1 year of age when the first doctor performed my lens extraction leaving remnants behind. This resultied in me losing vision in my left eye with added complication of lack of ability to dilate my pupils due to scarring. I had a second surgery performed when I was 8 years old by another doctor who also apparently was an expert in the field of intra ocular lens implantation. I lived till the year 2017 (20 years) with only 40-to 50 % vision in the good eye and practically 20% in the left eye. It was about 2 years ago I discovered my vision was getting worse and so i decided to consult eye doctors in India and they told me the surgery performend 20 years ago in the Gulf was horribly done, as the doctor had placed the implants wrongly and this was damaging the surrounding structures resulting in my poor vision.

The ultimate decision was that surgery was needed but in my country, India, although i had consulted the best doctors, no one was ready to even get involved. For this reason I flew to the much talked about Cleveland Clinic. I consulted three doctors, the fiirst was the vitreo-retinal surgeon, then the anterior segment surgeon and finally I met the apparent guru of the department. They discussed among themselves and decided they would not do the surgery. You could imagine my dismay after investing so much flying to the USA with hopes of better treatment that I got this news. When I came back home, I was depressed and on the verge of giving up everything. My family and friends told me I was wasting my time and it was best to let it go. But I am not the type of person who would give up, so I started going through the net and heard about this clinic in the Oxford where they performed the first eye robotic surgery which was successful a year ago. I managed to get in touch with the professor who performend the surgery but even he, with all his machinery was not ready to perform the surgery.

It was a complete coincidence that I found this medigo group online. Invested €99/- sent all my history, clinical photos and reports and the group outsourced the information to all its partner hospitals. I was really shocked to see the responses from doctors from various hospitals across Western Europe through this site. I should say I got lot of no’s and even a response from a Swiss hospital saying that they believe the doctors in India are right and they too would not do the surgery.

However, I never expected a response from Dr. Georg Hanselmeyer residing in a little known place called Graz, Austria. Soon after I got a ‘Yes! It’s possible....’ response from his email we made arrangements to Skype and by this time, although I am a dermatologist by profession, the knowledge I gained for my visual ailment I was also some what of an ophthalmologist myself. So we spent almost 45 minutes discussing this and figuring out how to approach the surgery. I was completely satisfied and had confidence I knew I was communicating with someone who was extremely capable of his work. However during this time I was contacted by the eye institute in Singapore and they said also they could be capable of doing the surgery, however I needed to come over and then only discuss. I had a horrible experience losing a lot of money flying to the States that I said I declined unless they agreed to videoconference with me first. They refused as did some other clinics in the UK.

A couple of days later this amazing representative from the PrivatKlinik Leech Focus clinic in Graz Austria, Miss Kober Lada contacted and helped me through understanding the procedure for attaining visa for treatment. Miss Lada was always prompt helping me whenever I found any difficulty in processing my visa. Unfortunately by the time I arrived in Graz, she had already resigned and was replaced. An excellent PRO and I must mention her name in this review as both she and Dr. Georg Hanselmeyer deserve high praise for their work ethic. If it weren’t for her, this review would not have been published.

Now coming to the Dr.Georg Hanselmeyer, a true gentleman without question. We had the consultation again in person, trying to figure out how many surgeries would be necessary as this was not your usual in and out procedures. The day the surgery was performed, it was extremely complicated without doubt as it took almost an hour to complete but the end results were spectacular, for the first time in 20 years I could see better than when I was wearing glasses. I have not enough words to praise this man for his capabilities and skill in performing this very complicated surgery.

I will definitely endorse this doctor and clinic for treatment of eye ailments, and if you, friend or relative have similar ailments as did I and you feel you don’t have the confidence of doctors in your regoin treating you, then I suggest you contact Medigo group to contact the Focus Clinic (Privatklinik Leech), Graz , Austria and discuss your eye ailment with them.

I cannot conclude this review without providing praise to the Medigo Group especially its representative Miss Esra for making all this possible. They removed all the red tape for a patient to meet his doctor, allowing the patient to deal one on one with multiple doctors and best of all providing a larger net to get more varied opinions, no matter which part of the globe the patient is. Unfortunately, not many in India know of this and so such individuals give up going for further consultation due to the fear of not being able to communicate with more capable voices outside. I hope this review will boost your confidence and allow Medigo group a chance and let them help you find your doctor.

I hope this has helped you. I say as a doctor, never lose hope over an ailment considered untreatable by your consultants. Believe me when I say the medical world has made great advances, there will be someone, somewhere who can treat you.

Please do not lose hope, I wish you the best in your search as well!
    Stay Positive!
