Spinal discs are connected to the vertebrae in the spine, separating each of the vertebrae and acting as a cushion to absorb shock and protect the vertebrae and nerves. The discs have a soft interior filled with a gel-like fluid, which is covered with a harder exterior. A herniated disc, also known as a slipped disc, occurs when the disc's exterior becomes damaged which enables the soft interior to push its way out of the disc. This applies pressure on the nerves and spinal cord, which can cause pain in the back, neck, legs, arms, or buttocks.
Spinal fusion surgery is performed to prevent friction between 2 or more vertebrae, by fusing them together with a bone graft or synthetic material. By preventing friction between the vertebrae, it can relieve back pain and pressure put on surrounding nerves.
Gastric band surgery is a weight-loss surgery which uses an inflatable silicone band to create a small gastric pouch in the stomach, slowing down food consumption and limiting food intake. The surgery is performed to help patients with weight-loss after non-surgical methods such as change of diet and regular exercise, have failed to produce results.
The doctor should ensure that the patients condition is stable enough to travel.
Gastric bypass surgery is performed to help patients to lose weight by reducing the size of the stomach. The surgery is performed to help patients with weight-loss after non-surgical methods such as change of diet and regular exercise, have failed to produce results.
Flying after surgery can increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and patients will need to be cleared by the surgeon before flying.
A dental bridge is a prosthesis which is used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. A dental bridge is similar to a crown, but consists of at least 2 or 3 teeth, while a crown covers a single tooth. The bridge is cemented over the top of the teeth either side of a gap, so that the pontic (the prosthetic tooth in the middle) is held in place.
The time needed depends on how quickly the laboratory technician can create the bridge.
A dental checkup enables a dentist to inspect the teeth and gums, and identify any problems before they get worse.
Patients may wish to stay longer if the checkup highlights problems, such as cavities that need fillings.
Bunion surgery is a surgical procedure performed to re-align a deformed joint which has formed in the foot. A bunion is a deformity of the big toe which causes the bone and tissue located around the joint to become misaligned and to stick out.
Carpal tunnel surgery, which may also be referred to as carpal tunnel release, is a procedure performed to relieve pain and symptoms caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition which causes numbness and tingling in the hands or arms. The condition occurs when the nerve in the hand becomes compressed.
Patients may require a follow-up appointment to get stitches removed. If patients need to fly sooner, this should be discussed with the surgeon.
Abdominoplasty, also referred to as a "tummy tuck", is a surgical procedure performed to remove excess fat and skin that has lost its elasticity and to create a firmer and more defined abdomen. The procedure is most commonly performed on women who have excess skin from previous pregnancies, or on patients who have lost a lot of weight and want excess skin removed.
Many surgeons recommend waiting around 2 weeks before flying, and taking precautions against the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Patients will need approval from the surgeon before travelling.
An arm lift, also referred to as a brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure to firm and reshape the upper arms. The surgeon may use liposuction to remove excess fat and skin and reposition the remaining skin to tighten it.
The patient might have to stay until the sutures can be removed, and should ask the surgeon. It should be possible to fly home within 7 to 10 days.
A Brazilian butt lift is a procedure which grafts fat from one area of the body and transfers this to the butt, in order to create a fuller bottom. By removing the patient's own fat and transferring it, it reduces the risk of the body rejecting it.
Patients need to avoid sitting for the first weeks after surgery, therefore will be unable to travel for this time and will need to attend a follow-up appointment to check the healing progress.

Many thanks to all the nurses who looked after me for almost 15 days of hospitalization. They went beyond kindness, and I got a special care that I had never seen in other hospitals. Likewise, thanks to the women on charge of the kitchen, who consented me and were my accomplices with many desserts. Once again, my thanks to all the staff who take care of me ... literally ... I owe them life ... a million thanks for all ...!

Simple access on main boulevard to the hospital, which is close to the US border. Parking is difficult to find. Equipment seems new and fresh. This is a very busy hospital but staff and doctors are very nice and eager to help.
