Anesthesia is administered to patients to numb a specific area or to make a patient unconscious while performing a procedure. The main types of anesthesia are local, regional, and general anesthetic. They are sometimes given in combination with one another, as well as in combination with oral or intravenous (IV) sedation.
Patients can travel immediately after local anesthetic. After a general anesthetic, patients can travel as soon as the effects have worn off and their condition is stable.
The All-on-4 dental implant treatment was designed by Nobel Biocare, and is used to replace an entire upper or lower set of teeth. The procedure creates a permanent prosthesis by using four dental implants that act as an anchor for a bridge or overdenture of 12-to-14 teeth.
The dentist performs or examines diagnostic tests (such as panoramic X-rays and a CT scan) to assess the patient's jaw bone density. These scans are then often followed up by computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (known as CAD/CAM) processes that plan the All-on-4 procedure and allow the dentist to precisely insert the dental implants into the jaw.
The All-on-6 treatment was designed by Nobel Biocare, and is used to replace the entire upper or lower set of teeth. The procedure creates a permanent prosthesis by using 6 dental implants which act as an anchor for a bridge or overdenture of 12 to 14 teeth.
A bone graft or bone augmentation may be required for patients who have a soft or thin jaw bone and are having dental implants.

Advanced Smile Dentistry is located in a modern area of Tijuana named Zona Rio, which is full of restaurants, cafes and hotels. I met with Roberto Vargas, who is their international patient coordinator that all patients talk to prior to booking treatment. He is great and will answer all your questions. The main dentist, Dr. Julian De Anda, is super welcoming and has over ten years experience with American and Canadian patients. They even receive many patients from Alaska!
Traveling to Tijuana is safe, people are kind and going to Advanced Smiles Dentistry is a must if your looking for a high end dentistry office with a friendly staff. Is about a $4 cab ride from the border and I would highly recommend this place. I’m a blonde haired surfer from Calabasas which is the suburbs inland from Malibu. I don’t speak Spanish. The friendly staff all speak perfect English and every customer there are people from America. I have been there several times for work done and don’t generally give reviews this extensive but I want people to know that has been a wonderful experience for me. Painless, clean, state of the art equipment. Sitting in the chair you would think your in Beverly Hills or any other high end Dentistry office.
It was an excellent experience! Everyone was very nice and helpful. They really explained everything in detail. We will get all of our dental work done here from now on. I highly recommend them.
PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS FACILITY! I have had quality dental work in Tijuana before, but this was a nightmare. I went in to have both of my wisdom teeth removed. The oral surgeon cut open my gum on the wrong side (mind you my X-rays were on the screen in front of him). Then once I stopped him in fear of him drilling into the wrong tooth, he said, "I will explain after." Then proceeded to tell me there was a mix up that was communicated wrong by the dentist so he cut into the wrong gum. In addition I told him I was moving and he said he would put in the stitches that dissolved with no need to remove them. Turns out that was a lie. The stiches became infected and I had to have them cut out. And they still charged me full price and tried to make up by saying they didn't charge me the consultation! Please save your mouth and money and go elsewhere.
UPDATE WAIT TIME: No problem crossing the border, was actually faster than usual at 1030am wed 11/21. Don't be scared of the usual scare tactics by the media. However, if you're driving across, then yes, there looked like a significant wait, but not for walking across (either direction).
As usual, received great care by the dental team and will be returning for another visit.
Everything here is straightforward & actually easier to understand than what I’ve experienced in the States. They provide detailed printed info sheets showing whats what, where triage is necessary & what can wait. The staff has excellent communication skills & it’s really quick & easy to get to from LA. Just drive to the border, park at the outlet malls, cross the border & hop in an Über.
I said to the Dr., “ Should I just get an implant rather than replace my crown?” She said,” No, a tooth is an organ. Its a part of your body & if I were you I would keep it as long as I can.” That is a very human thing to say, & I really appreciate it. My old metal fillings are gone & my crown is better than its ever been. They were kind enough to numb me out for the cleaning too because my teeth are unbearably sensitive.
