5 procedures in Ophthalmology
The clinic uses phacoemulsification to remove cataracts.
Patients can usually fly soon after cataract surgery, but should take precautions to avoid dryness in the eye.
An intraocular lens implant is a synthetic lens placed inside the eye, usually when the natural lens has been surgically removed as part of cataract surgery. A lens may also be used to replace a damaged lens, as well as to improve a patients eyesight who is short or long sighted (known as implantable contact lenses or ICL).
Sometimes patients who have had an artificial lens implanted after cataract surgery decide to get a different lens implanted. Different lenses offer different focal lengths, meaning that patients are either short or long sighted. Some implantable lenses are multifocal, enabling patients to see better without glasses.
The ophthalmologist may want to arrange a follow up appointment a few days after the procedure, but you can discuss with them if you need to travel earlier.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

Laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a type of laser eye surgery used to correct eyesight. It can correct short-sighted and long-sighted vision, and correct vision for patients with astigmatism. The outer surface of the cornea (the epithelium) is folded back, and the cornea is reshaped by removing tissue with an excimer laser. Then the outer surface is folded back into place and attaches to the eye due to natural suction. The surgery is a popular procedure as it has high success rates, with many patients no longer required to wear glasses or contact lenses afterwards.
Patients can usually fly soon after LASIK, but should take precautions to avoid dryness of the eye.
Laser Vision International LASIK Center use only advanced and internationally-approved technology, such as the FDA-approved excimer laser. The main specialty at the clinic is Femtosecond LASIK. Laser Vision is the first private LASIK center in Thailand to acquire the Femtosecond Laser, the best, newest and safest vision correction tool. The clinic uses this device in surgical procedures which have produced highly successful results and the highest satisfaction for patients.
Other procedures offered at the Laser Vision Center include RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange), a treatment for people with presbyopia (not suitable for LASIK treatment), that offers clear vision and a reduction in a patients need for reading glasses. The clinic also provides cataract surgery.
The Laser Vision International LASIK Center employs a team of doctors, refractionists, nurses, and assistants who all specialize in the field of cornea and refractive surgery. All those at the clinic regularly attend international conferences on refractive surgery to enhance their knowledge and expertise.
Many of the ophthalmologists at the clinic have been educated and trained abroad in countries such as the USA and the United Kingdom. Staff at the center aim to be at the forefront of advances in refractive surgery and laser technology.

The clinic was very far from my hotel. The eye examination was very thorough, but the total cost of the proposed treatment was very high (over 4,000 euros) so I didn't proceed with the operation.
La clinique était très éloignée de mon hôtel. Le bilan opthtalmologique effectué a été très complet mais le coût de l'intervention, très élevé (plus de 4000 euros) m'a fait renoncer à l'opération.
