Laser Vision International LASIK Center is located in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. The center is a 20 minute drive from Don Mueang International Airport and around 40 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The clinic is found to the north of the city center, in the district of Chatuchack. As well as being served by local bus connections, the clinic is also nearly BTS (SkyTrain) and MRT metro service. With around 12% of Thailand's population living in Bangkok, there is no shortage of sights and attractions. The famous Wat Arun temple is just over an hour from the clinic by car. Its distinctive spire is one of the most well-known sights in Thailand. Likewise, the Wat Pho temple (temple of the reclining Buddha) is also an hour from the Laser Vision Center. The Wat Pho temple is considered to be the birthplace of traditional Thai massage.

  • An intraocular lens implant is a synthetic lens placed inside the eye, usually when the natural lens has been surgically removed as part of cataract surgery. A lens may also be used to replace a damaged lens, as well as to improve a patients eyesight who is short or long sighted (known as implantable contact lenses or ICL).

    Sometimes patients who have had an artificial lens implanted after cataract surgery decide to get a different lens implanted. Different lenses offer different focal lengths, meaning that patients are either short or long sighted. Some implantable lenses are multifocal, enabling patients to see better without glasses.

  • Laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a type of laser eye surgery used to correct eyesight. It can correct short-sighted and long-sighted vision, and correct vision for patients with astigmatism. The outer surface of the cornea (the epithelium) is folded back, and the cornea is reshaped by removing tissue with an excimer laser. Then the outer surface is folded back into place and attaches to the eye due to natural suction. The surgery is a popular procedure as it has high success rates, with many patients no longer required to wear glasses or contact lenses afterwards.

    The clinic was very far from my hotel. The eye examination was very thorough, but the total cost of the proposed treatment was very high (over 4,000 euros) so I didn't proceed with the operation.
