About Tooth Sealant

Tooth Sealant

Dental sealant, also called fissure sealant, is a thin layer of plastic usually applied to the grooves of the back teeth where chewing takes place. This is a preventive treatment which reduces the chances of developing cavities.

Once the sealant is applied, it is difficult for food to get stuck in the pits of the teeth, causing tooth decay. Sealants are commonly applied to the teeth of children to prevent cavities. The price quoted by the clinic is often per tooth.

Recommended for
  • Teeth with enamel defects (preventing the teeth from protecting themselves),
  • Teeth with a history of caries
  • Early signs of dental caries
  • Deep pits which get food stuck in them
  • Children

Before Tooth Sealant abroad

The tooth is cleaned and dried before the procedure takes place.

How is it performed

Sealants are quick and painless. After the tooth is prepared, a solution is painted onto the tooth to make the surface rough enough for the sealant to stick to. Once this is applied, cotton is placed around the area to keep it dry and the sealant is applied. The sealant dries within a few seconds.

Procedure duration

The Tooth Sealant takes 10 to 15 minutes.

This procedure is very quick, and for a single tooth takes around ten minutes.
