Before Hip Arthroscopy abroad

Before the surgery, the doctor will run a series of tests to determine the overall health of the patient and to ensure that they are healthy enough to undergo the procedure.

If the surgery is being performed under a general anesthetic, patients are usually advised to refrain from eating and drinking in the hours preceding the surgery.

How is it performed

The surgeon will begin by making an incision in the hip through which, the arthroscope is inserted and guided into the hip joint. The arthroscope is fitted with a camera to give the surgeon visualization of the joint. The camera transmits video images of the hip to a computer screen which viewed by the surgeon.

Depending on the findings, the surgeon may also attach small surgical instruments to the arthroscope in order to make small repairs to the hip. Once finished, the surgeon will then remove the arthroscope and close the incision site with sutures.

Anesthesia

General anesthetic.

Procedure duration

The Hip Arthroscopy takes 25 to 45 minutes.

The time needed to complete the procedure will vary depending on what problems are identified during the arthroscopy.
