Second medical opinion

A specialist's second look, without the travel.

Our doctors review the case, shortlist specialists from leading university hospitals and JCI-accredited centres, and the patient chooses who reviews it. They receive a written opinion or speak to the specialist by video.

How it works

From request to opinion in five steps.

  1. 01

    Request.

By portal, API, email or phone. We call the patient to explain what happens next.

  2. 02

    Medical review.

One of our doctors reads the records, has them translated where needed, and defines the question for the specialist.

  3. 03

    Shortlist and choice.

We shortlist specialists suited to the case. The patient chooses who reviews it.

  4. 04

    The opinion.

A written report or a live video consultation with the specialist.

  5. 05

    Follow-up.

The patient can ask follow-up questions once they've read the opinion. We track the outcome.

Two formats

On paper, or face to face on video.

Both start with the same review of all available records. Specialists come from a network of 100,000+ worldwide, at top university hospitals and JCI-accredited centres.

Written opinion.

The specialist answers the patient's questions and gives an expert view on the current diagnosis and treatment pathway.

  • Full review of the medical records
  • Report in English, in a standard format
  • Usually within 5–10 working days

Video opinion.

The patient talks directly with the specialist to discuss results or get clarity on next steps.

  • Records reviewed by the specialist in advance
  • Live consultation with the patient
  • Tailored recommendations and direct feedback

How we work with you

Fits your intake. Reports the outcome.

Your channels.

Requests come in through your portal, our API, email or phone, with a branded intake page if you want one.

Data and outcomes.

Records are handled in line with GDPR. We collect patient feedback and report the outcome of each opinion.

In practice

A treatment plan worth questioning.

Oncology

Surgery ruled out, then recommended

A 72-year-old patient with oesophageal cancer was being treated with radiotherapy alone; his local doctors had ruled out surgery. A German oncology expert we matched him with recommended chemo-radiation followed by surgery.

He chose to follow that advice and asked us to organise his treatment in Berlin.

How we organise treatment abroad

65%

of our second opinions recommended a change to the diagnosis or treatment plan.
